Most on-screen measurement tools rely purely on standard CSS pixels (96 DPI), which often leads to inaccurate physical readings across modern high-density laptop and mobile displays.
To solve this, I built AI Online Ruler, a zero-bloat web utility designed to achieve 1:1 physical hardware calibration directly in the browser.
Key Features & Engineering:
- Zero-JavaScript Overhead: Built with Astro and deployed on Cloudflare Pages for instant edge loading.
- Credit Card / Standard Card Calibration: Since physical cards follow international standards (ISO/IEC 7810 ID-1: 85.60 mm × 53.98 mm), users can calibrate their screens without needing a physical tape measure.
- Multi-Unit Precision: Real-time measurement across millimeters (mm), centimeters (cm), and inches.
- Privacy-First: 100% client-side execution with no tracking cookies or mandatory registration.
You can test the tool and calibrate your screen here: AI Online Ruler
Would love feedback from the developer community on handling device pixel ratios across custom ultra-wide monitors!
