You can make AI videos on your own computer or phone with Off Grid AI Pro. Describe a scene and it renders the clip on your own hardware with open models such as Wan 2.2. No credits, no queue, and no photo leaves your devices.
It works on Mac (Apple silicon), Windows, Linux, iPhone and Android. One sentence can also become a narrated short film, with the same character in every shot.

Why make video on your own device
Cloud video tools sell credits. A few retries can use up a month of them. Your prompts and photos sit on their servers.
On your own device the maths changes. The model is a one-time download. Every retry is free. You can leave a 30-second story rendering overnight and wake up to the film.
Characters matter here too. To keep the same face in every shot, you give the app a photo. With Off Grid AI, that photo goes only to the computer or phone doing the render.
What you need
- Off Grid AI Pro. $79.99 once (limited time, regular $119) or $7.99 a month, for up to 5 devices. The free app runs chat, images and voice; Video is part of Pro.
- A computer with 16 GB of RAM or more for Wan 2.1 or LingBot Video. Wan 2.2 lists 24 GB.
- Or a phone. iPhone or Android. Phones with 16 GB render clips at the model's full size. Phones with less make a smaller clip.
- Internet once, to download the model. Rendering happens on the device.
The video models

| Wan 2.1 (1.3B) | Clips from a description | 16 GB | About 5.43 GB |
| LingBot Video (1.3B) | Clips from a description | 16 GB | About 4.2 GB |

Sizes include the text encoder and VAE that come in the same download. The phone app offers the two Light models.
Start with Wan 2.1 (1.3B), Light. It is the quickest to download and runs on the most machines. Move to Wan 2.2 when you want a clip that starts from your own photo.
Make your first clip on a computer
- Download Off Grid AI Desktop and enter your Pro key.
- Open Models and download a video model. Then open Video in the sidebar.
- Pick a style under Start from a style. Cinematic, Product shot, Nature, Animation, Vintage film and Talking head each fill in a sample prompt.
- Edit the prompt in Describe a scene, or add a photo to bring it to life. Name the subject, the motion and the light. "A fox cub hops through a sunny meadow" works better than "a fox".
- Choose a shape: Landscape, Portrait or Square. Portrait suits phones and social posts.
- Leave Clip · 5 s selected and press Make it. The screen shows how long it will take on your computer before you start.
The finished clip opens in the player. You can change the speed, pop it out in picture in picture, or press Extend to keep the shot going. Save as MP4 writes a normal video file you can edit anywhere.
Turn one sentence into a short film
A single clip is a shot. A film needs a story. Choose Story · 30 s instead of Clip.
- Write the whole idea in one sentence, such as "Maya finds a lost dog and walks it home through the rain".
- Off Grid AI writes a storyboard of shots. Read them, change any shot, or add one.
- Render a quick draft to check the story.
- When the draft looks right, render the final film. Off Grid AI joins the shots, adds a narrator's voice and captions, and saves one film.
To keep the same person in every shot, open Characters and press Create a character. Add a photo of someone who agreed to be in a video. Then add the character to your prompt with + Character.
Long films take time on any computer. Start one before bed and it renders while you sleep. If the app quits halfway, the render picks up at the next launch.
Make videos on your phone
Off Grid AI on iPhone and Android makes clips too, with Pro.
- Install Off Grid AI from the App Store or Google Play.
- In Models, download Wan 2.1 (1.3B), Light.
- In any chat, type "Create a video of" and your scene. The app makes a video without any switch to flip.
- Pick a style from the row above the prompt, or press Restyle on a finished clip to try another look.
You choose where a film renders. On this phone keeps everything on the phone. On Android it keeps working with the screen off, and it uses the phone's NPU where the chip supports it. On iPhone, keep Off Grid AI open and charging.
On your computer sends the job to your own Mac or PC. That is the fastest route for long films, and nothing passes through a cloud server.
To narrate films on the phone, download a voice in Models → Voice first.
Other ways to make AI video locally
ComfyUI runs Wan 2.2 on your own GPU through node workflows. Its guide says the 5B model fits in 8 GB of VRAM with offloading. You place the model, text encoder and VAE files in the right folders yourself, and wire up the nodes. It is free and very flexible if you like building workflows.
Draw Things turns images into video clips on iPhone, iPad and Mac. It is free, with a paid plan for cloud compute. It is Apple only.
Off Grid AI is the pick when you want video on Windows, Linux or Android as well, with no node graph. It is also the one that writes a storyboard, keeps a character consistent, and adds narration and captions for you.
FAQ
Can I make AI videos on my own computer without credits?
Yes. Off Grid AI Pro renders video with open models such as Wan 2.1 and Wan 2.2 on your own Mac, Windows PC or Linux machine. There is no credit meter. You make as many clips as your computer can render.
Can I make AI videos on my phone?
Yes. Off Grid AI on iPhone and Android renders clips on the phone with Wan 2.1 or Wan 2.2. On a phone with less than 16 GB of memory it renders a smaller clip. You can also send the job to your own computer.
Do my photos get uploaded when I make a character?
No. Character photos go only to the device that renders the film, and the Video screen names that device.
How much memory do I need for local AI video?
Wan 2.1 (1.3B) and LingBot Video (1.3B) list 16 GB of RAM. Wan 2.2 (5B) lists 24 GB. The Light versions download faster and take less disk space.
Can it make a whole short film, not just one clip?
Yes. Describe a story in one sentence. Off Grid AI writes the shots, keeps the same character in every shot, adds narration and captions, and joins the shots into one film.
Are the videos marked as AI-generated?
Yes. Every film made in Video Studio carries an AI-generated label in the file.
