Hey everyone!
I've been working on a project called Takeout Mender, and I'm excited to share it here.
Google Takeout exports can sometimes leave important photo and video metadata in separate JSON sidecar files. When moving your media to another platform, original dates, GPS information and descriptions may not always be recognised.
That's the problem Takeout Mender is designed to solve.
What does it do?
Restores available dates, GPS information and descriptions from JSON sidecars.
Embeds supported metadata into JPEG and PNG images.
Patches supported creation-date metadata in MP4 and MOV videos.
Generates XMP sidecars for HEIC and WebP files.
Handles filename variations and duplicate copies.
Organises recovered files into year/month folders.
Keeps original files untouched.
Why use it?
Completely free.
Runs directly in your browser.
No account required.
Your personal photo archive doesn't need to be uploaded to a server.
Designed to make metadata recovery easier without manually fixing files one by one.

I'm the developer behind this project, and I'd really appreciate it if you gave it a try.
Feedback, suggestions, bug reports and feature requests are all welcome. I'd especially like to hear from people who regularly work with large Google Takeout archives.
Thanks for checking it out!
