What's actually free in "free" resume builders (2026, checked from each pricing page)

Disclosure: I make ResumeSutra. Everything about the other tools below is quoted from their own pricing pages on 5 November 2026, with links. Plans change, so check before you pay.

How to pick

Campus placements in India: use a format your placement cell accepts. ResumeSutra has IIT, NIT, BITS, DTU, NSUT, IIM, CA and DU styles.

Applying through Workday, Greenhouse or Lever: use a one-column template, then check the PDF with an ATS checker before sending.

One polished design and happy to pay: Resume.io, Kickresume or Novoresume Pro.

Want to self-host: Reactive Resume is open source.

Free and design-focused for one resume: FlowCV.

Check any resume for ATS in 30 seconds

Open your PDF, select all, copy, and paste into Notepad. If the text comes out in order (name, then each job's title, company and dates together), a parser can read it. If lines from two columns interleave, or symbols replace your phone and email icons, fix the layout.

ResumeSutra's ATS X-Ray does the same check in your browser, without uploading your file: https://www.resumesutra.app/ats-xray
