Affinity is officially coming to Linux, according to an announcement on its X account.
A native version of the design application is currently in development, bringing its illustration, photo processing, and scripting capabilities directly to Linux systems.
Affinity is a free design app that covers vector design, photo editing, and page layout, and is a direct competitor to Adobe's equivalent programs. Until now, the software ran on Windows, macOS, and iPadOS, and is owned by Canva after acquiring British company Serif in 2024.
Affinity v3 was released in October 2025 as a single free app that requires a Canva account login. Canva’s AI features require a paid plan but can be disabled within the app. While Linux users could already run Affinity using WINE, the official release will offer a more native and stable experience.
