Shelly 3.2 brings refined package management to Arch Linux, addressing critical regressions and adding new utility functions.
Developers can now utilize multi-package downgrades in a single transaction and benefit from improved AppImage update discovery.
This release also resolves architecture detection errors within AUR PKGBUILDs and fixes race conditions during Git mirror maintenance.
Documentation for the new permission fix command is available for those encountering cache-related issues.
The main changes
One of the most important additions is the ability to revert to older versions for multiple programs at once, in a single process. In addition, Shelly 3.2 brings improvements in several areas:
- Rights management: The way the program handles cache files has been improved. If you encounter problems with access permissions, you can use the command
shelly --fix-permissionsto fix them. - Show applications: The integration of AppImage applications into your computer's menu has been improved, while the program can now more easily locate information about their updates.
- Search: When searching for a program, Shelly now prioritizes the version you already have installed on your computer over the versions in the repositories.
- Notifications: The notification system is now updated correctly after tasks are completed, while the program more accurately detects when it is actually necessary to restart the system.
Improvements for command line users
For those using Shelly via the command line, the new version offers a clearer picture of the status during installations. Specifically, indicators have been added to show the speed of file transfers, as well as color indicators (ANSI) to make transaction messages easier to read.
Finally, the update resolves issues introduced in the previous version regarding the use of Flatpak, as well as errors during file maintenance and system architecture recognition.
