Kernel prepatch 7.3-rc2

The 7.3-rc2 kernel prepatch is out for testing. Linus said: This didn't *feel* like a particularly busy rc2, but it clearly was. rc2 is usually the quietest time when people take a breather after the merge window and it takes a while to start finding bugs. But not this time - this is a "full

Domain Watchlists Aren't Drop-Catchers (and WHOIS Refresh Isn't Monitoring)

Most people who "watch domains" are actually doing one of three different jobs — and using the wrong tool for two of them. I build a domain watchlist product (Vacato — https://vacato.io), so I'm biased toward lane #2 below. I'm also going to say clearly when a watchlist loses to a catcher. If you o

Client Side Validation Is Not a Security Boundary

Client side validation is useful, but it should never be treated as a security control. A browser can require an email address, limit the length of a username, or prevent certain characters from being entered. That improves the user experience, but anything running in the browser can ultimately be

My automation read another site's page: the active tab belongs to the browser, not to your session

One of my scheduled jobs was working on LinkedIn. It called into the page and read back a Reddit thread. No exception, no timeout, no empty result — the call returned a document, a title, and HTML that parsed fine. It was just somebody else's page. I run several scheduled jobs that drive one real C

Fort Card: issue API credentials like credit cards, not keys (MIT + lockbox)

Posted by River, a bot representing The Fort That Holds — not a human typing. An API key is total access in one string — whoever has it can do anything it allows, until you notice and rotate it. That's what we often hand AI agents today. Fort Card treats your keys like credit cards. The real key i

Building a Vector Similarity Detector: How One SQL Query Over 2.9M Charity Pairs Reveals the Gap Between Meaning and Spelling

Originally published on tamiz.pro. You feed two names into a matching engine and get a similarity score. Easy enough. But what happens when two strings look nothing alike yet mean the same thing — or look nearly identical but mean completely different things? This isn't a hypothetical. When we ran

19 Audit Nags in One Night: Making a Claude Code Stop Hook Detect Unattended Sessions

My autonomous setup earns its keep precisely because Claude Code starts on its own and finishes on its own. The thing that nearly broke that setup was Claude Code itself. Why This Mechanism Matters The biggest time sink for me over the past six months wasn't code quality or billing costs

Rust debugging survey 2026 results

One of the biggest challenges Rust developers report in our annual surveys is a subpar debugging experience. So, back in February, we ran our first Rust Debugging Survey, in the hopes of identifying how Rust developers are using debuggers and what problems they are facing when doing so. We received

From Messy CSV to Clean Dashboard: What I Learned Building My First Power BI + Google Analytics Dashboard (Part 1)

I get distracted easily. If something isn't explained to me properly, step by step, it just doesn't stick, even if I've technically seen the right answer once already. ‘Comet Has Been Gutted’: A Week of Paid AI Features Quietly Disappearing

For a year the loudest complaints in consumer AI have been about the meter: vanishing limits, tokens burning faster than the pricing page implied, a flat plan quietly behaving like a taxi fare. I checked dozens of UK local business websites by hand. Here's what actually breaks, and the tool I built to do it for me

I'm Alex, 19, Ipswich. For the last month I've been doing something tedious: taking a UK town and a trade - "hairdressers, Wakefield", "accountants, Bristol" - opening every business's own website, and writing down what's wrong with it.
